New York State Council of Professional Geologists presents:

Your P.G. License and Tips to Keep

Presented by: Jean M. Patota, P.G.

NYSCPG is pleased to host Jean M. Patota, P.G. for this repeated presentation from the First Annual Geology Days Conference in October. This online course will provide the opportunity to earn the required one Professional Development Hour (PDH) of ethics for the Design Professional continuing education in New York State. Individuals who earned credit for attending this course previously at Geology Days 2022 are ineligible to receive further credit for the same triennial registration period. A Design Professional (geologist, engineer, etc.) can take additional ethics courses to meet the continuing education requirements.

Abstract

Are you working on obtaining your license in NY? Do you already hold your license? Congratulations! Now what? This presentation provides a brief overview of the licensure process focusing on geologic work experience, followed by ethical practice topics. Subjects will include summarizing the permissible forms of practice and authorization in NYS, the Rules of Professional Conduct outlining prohibitions and your professional responsibilities to the public, and a brief introduction to the Office of Professional Discipline (spoiler alert - practice ethically so you never meet them). Time will be allotted for an open discussion of fictitious ethical scenarios that will assist licensees to recognize and consider the regulations within the context of practicing geology and conducting business in NYS.
