COMMITTEES

NYSCPG is supported by the Executive Director, Board of Directors and various members who serve on active committees.

Membership Committee - The Membership Committee works to promote membership in the Council, membership retention, and updating membership qualifications.

Communications Committee - The Communications Committee oversees preparation of regular newsletters, maintenance of the Council’s web site, and distribution of any other information pertinent to the interests of the Membership.

Fundraising Committee - The Fundraising Committee works to build relationships and raise money to meet the Council’s ongoing financial needs.

Legislative Committee - The Legislative Committee is responsible for keeping track of all legislation that impacts the profession of Geology in New York State. The committee also tracks any proposed modifications to regulations from various New York State agencies.

Outreach - The outreach committee advocates on behalf of the Council and the profession with other organizations within the State of New York, provides information on licensure to New York universities, and educated geologists and the general public regarding licensure.

Education – The education committee plans and develops professional development hour (PDH) accredited educational opportunities and reviews and grants PDHs for continuing education courses and activities.

NYSCPG is the principal organization of professional geologists responsible for the advancement of the competent and ethical practice of geology in New York State.
